In the 15-16 centuries, canaries were still very rare in Europe. They were given to monarchs, the highest nobility dreamed of such a pet. The bird became a symbol of wealth and wealth.

   However, gradually, due to the opportunity to breed canaries, the price of birds began to decline, and people of their various classes could already purchase them.

   So, having preserved love and sympathy for themselves among the high society, the canary conquered the hearts of ordinary workers. Where just did not keep these amazing birds! 

A little later, another amazing feature of canaries was discovered: the amazing sensitivity of birds to gas. 
And the canaries began to save people. The miners took them with them to the face: as soon as the bird became “bad” from the gas that appeared in the air, people still had time to leave the mine before the explosion. 

And even in the post-war years, the canary cell could often be seen in various chemical laboratories. And it is hardly possible to know exactly how many saved lives are counted in this bird.

   At the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries, an amazing event occurred: yellow-colored individuals began to appear in the offspring of birds of the usual green color. Such a transformation, associated with a change in the conditions of existence, occurred almost simultaneously in different European countries and caused a real sensation among amateurs. 

And, perhaps, this is what provoked an  unprecedented interest in terms of the development of new colors of canaries, laying the foundation for color canary breeding.

   The fruits of directed human selection are manifested today in the numerous colors of the “modern” canaries, the richness of colors and shades. Canaries were bred with unusual plumage, crested, curly; even in the form turned out to be many search capabilities. That there is only one hunchbacked canary! This work does not stop today. 

Every year new breeds of these interesting birds are registered. However, naturally, first of all, the person put his efforts in the development of canary singing abilities. 

The championship in the breeding of a cultural song-canary belongs to German amateurs. Having developed a system of teaching canaries to sing with the help of special organists, they created the so-called noble singing roller, which to this day amazes fans with the culture of performing a song.

   Compared to other canaries, only the Spanish timbrados managed to preserve many of the elements of wild canary singing, although his song is already much longer and more varied than the songs of its wild relatives.
