Fish feeding with the basic rules

It is simply amazing how many people in the world strictly follow a diet and regularly reinforce their health with vitamins, and at the same time give their fish only ready-made food, and of one kind.

Such food can be compiled on the basis of scientific recommendations and include a huge amount of nutrients, but they are only simple substitutes (besides often inferior) for what the fish find under natural conditions. Do not think that we are against ready-made feed, quite the opposite. However, one thing should be very clear: the finished food is usually sufficient for a normal existence, while live food in frozen or sublimated form is absolutely necessary for bringing fish to spawning.

For each type of fish you need a certain feed.

How to feed the fish ?

It is simply amazing how many people in the world strictly follow a diet and regularly reinforce their health with vitamins, and at the same time give their fish only ready-made food, and of one kind.

Such food can be compiled on the basis of scientific recommendations and include a huge amount of nutrients, but they are only simple substitutes (besides often inferior) for what fish find in natural conditions. Do not think that we are against ready-made feed, quite the opposite. However, one thing should be very clear: the finished food is usually sufficient for a normal existence, while live food in frozen or sublimated form is absolutely necessary for bringing fish to spawning.

For each type of fish you need a certain feed.

Let's talk about the basic rules of feeding.

Live feed before feeding should be washed in the net under the tap, and the water temperature is made close to the aquarium. The bloodworm and tubule can be given in a special feeder with holes in the bottom. Its advantage is that living specimens of the feed themselves move into the water, while the sluggish and the dead remain inside. Dry food is poured into the feed ring laid on the surface of the water. Both types of feeders are available at pet stores.

The size of the feed should match the size of the fish. If they can’t cope with the food or, chewing it, spit it out, then it is unsuitable. The size of the food for the fry should be approximately equal to the size of their eyes. Bloodworms, tubule and enchitrea can be chopped into small pieces. Some aquarists do not feed valuable fish with a tubeworm for fear of poisoning.

The quality of the feed is of utmost importance. Therefore, dry food should be really dry, and not sticky, living organisms should be active. Frozen food should be fed immediately after thawing.

Amateurs determine the amount of food needed by the fish based on their own observations. It is better to give live food in small portions. Food should be given in small portions several times a day. One-time feeding of a triple-volume portion is completely not equivalent to three more modest feedings. At first, the fish attacks him, then their activity drops noticeably and, therefore, you can stop feeding. If the dry food placed in the feed ring is not eaten within 5 minutes, the residues should be removed with a net and a further portion reduced. You should always remember that it is better not to overfeed than to overfeed the fish, otherwise they will be worse colored, become sluggish, stop spawning, their life expectancy will be noticeably reduced. Fishes should be given a variety of food, constantly alternating it.

Adult fish should be fed 1 to 2 times a day, at the earliest an hour after turning on the light and at the latest one hour before turning it off. It is necessary to ensure that everything is eaten completely within 15 to 20 minutes. The daily diet should be 5% of the weight of the fish. Place of feeding should be constant. The remnants of not eaten food should be removed, this is especially important when using stale food, as they can cause unpleasant phenomena such as clouding of water, decay of the soil, the appearance of foul-smelling algae. Therefore, they must immediately be assembled with a hose. Once a week you need to arrange a hungry day. Fry should be fed as often as possible.

Here are six essential rules to keep in mind when feeding aquarium fish:

1. When feeding, be guided by the requirements of the fish, and not by your own desires.

2. It is desirable to feed (preferably, of course, alive) with various feeds, making maximum use of the capabilities of each season. Raw food in raw form is healthier than in boiled. Even the best feed is no good if it does not alternate with other feeds.

3. Do not feed too much! The remains of the food spoil the water. In aquariums, fish die more often from obesity than from malnutrition. Determine how much live fish feed you can eat quickly and never give them more than normal. Fish that eat right can endure a week-long hunger strike without harm.

4. If possible, feed several times a day.

5. The size of the feed should match the size of the fish. Large fish will starve if fed with small feed; small fish large feed "too tough", they can not swallow it.

6. Observe the fish during feeding, at this point it is easiest to distinguish between sick and healthy fish.

* The size of the feed should match the size of the fish.

* Live food is best given in small portions several times a day.

* Hunger can have a beneficial effect on the sexual activity of fish and even help restore the ability to reproduce. Starvation normalizes biochemical processes in the body, promotes the removal of poisons and toxins, the utilization of fatty and weakened, painfully altered tissues, the resorption of female sex products (not spawned eggs) remaining in the body, without which the formation of a new portion of caviar is impossible.
