Install the aquarium and choose the best place

After the aquarium has been purchased, installed in a selected place, filled with water, planted with plants and populated with fish, the workdays of a newly made aquarist begin. Some fish in the aquarium feel great, some - not really. Some plants are rapidly growing, while others turn yellow and lose their leaves. Compassionate relatives can feed supposedly “hungry” fish four times a day, and the next morning in the aquarium “war in Crimea, everything is in smoke”, and half of the inhabitants - upside down. The aquarist clutches his head and rushes to the nearest pet store for help.

CHOOSE A PLACE

The place for installing the aquarium must meet two conditions:

1. Direct sunlight should not fall on the aquarium, since its contact with the walls of the aquarium causes their rapid algal fouling.

2. In the place where the aquarium stands, the possibility of a sharp temperature drop should be excluded, since many fish species are very sensitive to a sharp change in water temperature even by 1-2 degrees.

PRELIMINARY PREPARATION

First of all, a new aquarium must be thoroughly washed using some kind of disinfectant, such as bleach. Only then can you proceed directly to the installation.

INSTALLATION

It is best to install the aquarium on special aquarium furniture, since even small aquariums have significant weight, which ordinary furniture, as a rule, is not designed for. The surface on which the aquarium is installed should be smooth without any bulges and should be located as horizontally as possible.

Place the aquarium on the pedestal. Carefully, evenly about 5 cm. Place carefully washed soil on its bottom. Then install the necessary equipment (filter, temperature regulator), being guided by the instructions supplied with this equipment, but not connecting it to the power supply. After that, you can pour water. In this case, in order not to erode the laid soil, you can put a plate on the bottom and direct the flow of water to its surface. After the aquarium is filled with water, turn on the filter and thermostat, put on the lid (if any) and leave the aquarium in this condition for several days. During this time, aquarium water will be cleaned of harmful impurities and “ripen” to start fish and plant plants.
