These turtles live in almost all tropical seas and are conditionally divided into the Pacific and Atlantic. But in principle, the Atlantic and Pacific differ little from each other, and their fate, unfortunately, is also very similar.

Green turtle - exterminated for the sake of delicious meat, for the preparation of the famous turtle soup and even has a middle name - soup turtle.

Turtles are hunted everywhere, even if their meat is not appreciated by gourmets and is not exported to other countries and markets of big cities: it is eaten by the local population, they are fed pigs, their shells are used for crafts, even if the bone plates are not so high qualities like carriage beads. And if, say, the Central Asian tortoise is not yet threatened with extermination, then many others are in danger.

Arrangement of the pool. Sea turtles are the inhabitants of warm and tropical seas. They go to land only for laying eggs. They can be kept only in high-quality sea water and always in large pools. Because of their size, adult animals require a lot of space for swimming. Round pools are desirable.

Water temperature

The required water temperature is between 22 - 26'C.

Filtration.

Sea turtles have a very intense metabolism. As a result, good water filtration is required. Despite good filtration, in certain circumstances a partial replacement of water is necessary in order to stabilize the pH value. To prevent injury to animals, the side surfaces of the pool should be sufficiently smooth. Silicone joints on the sides of the pool must be closed, as turtles pull them out and eat them.

Hygiene measures and quarantine .

Food debris and waste should be regularly sucked from the bottom of the pool. Newly arrived sea turtles must undergo a mandatory inspection.

Feeding .

Most sea turtles eat animal food. To prevent water pollution, it is not recommended to feed turtles with cod (due to its too soft meat) and herring (due to its fat content). Soup (green) turtles also eagerly eat plant foods. They can be given algae or spinach. Salad must be discarded due to water pollution.
