 Freshwater turtles

Freshwater turtles

Freshwater turtles live in rivers, lakes, swamps. They are very mobile, eat mainly animal food. The shell of aquatic turtles is flatter than land tortoiseshell, adapted for swimming. They spend most of their time in the water, sometimes crawling ashore or in shallow water to bask in the sun. In warm water, turtles actively move and hunt. At first glance, they are more mobile than land.

Freshwater turtles are especially diverse in their shapes and appearance. Sometimes so strange that at first you can’t figure out where what.
