vitamins that are soluble in fats For birds
The main stimulator of metabolism in the body are vitamins.
How to feed the canaries-Main feed Lack of them in the diet reduces the body's resistance to infectious diseases, egg-laying stops, molting begins, digestive disorders, convulsions and paralysis, blindness and curvature of bones are noted. Especially these phenomena can often be observed in the winter, when the birds do not have enough vitamins in their diet.
For birds , vitamins that are soluble in fats are of great importance :
- Vitamin A (retinol)
- Vitamin D (Calciferol)
- Vitamin E (tocopherol)
- Vitamin K (phyloquinone)
As well as water soluble vitamins :
- Vitamin B Complex:
- B1 (thiamine)
- B2 (riboflavin)
- B6 (pyrodoxin)
- B12 (cobalamin)
- C (ascorbic acid)
- Niacin (nicotinamide)
- Pantothenic acid
- Inositol (phytin)
- Choline
- Biotin
- Folic acid
Vitamins - a necessary element of the diet. They regulate the metabolism, contribute to the absorption of nutrients of the feed and their transformation into the body necessary for the life of the compounds, stimulate the functions of various organs. In the absence of one of the vitamins in the diet, serious violations of the organs and the whole organism occur.
For the prevention of metabolic disorders, multivitamins and vitamin preparations are used, they are added in small amounts to drinking water "soft food or grain mixture. It is necessary to be careful, it is better to use small doses in order to avoid fatty degeneration of the liver and severe poisoning. In the winter and spring months, trivitamin ADE can be used for prophylactic and therapeutic purposes ., which increases the body's resistance against infectious diseases and diseases of the young, promotes the growth of young and increases the fertility of adult birds.
Vitamin A (retinol)
Promotes the growth of the body, increases the body's defense against infections, which is of great importance when growing young. Vitamin A is formed when the plant feed is ingested, although it is not present in its pure form in plant feed.
Vitamin A is mainly found in animal feed (fish oil, egg yolk). And also in green and yellow vegetables (carrots, pumpkin, sweet peppers, spinach), fruits (apples), herbs (plantain, clover). When birds do not receive green food, fish oil, vitamin A should be given with boiled chicken eggs or grated carrots - at the rate of I drop on 4 canaries during the week.
Vitamin D (Calciferol)
It is the most effective of the vitamins. It acts as a balancing factor in the exchange of phosphoric acid and calcium, ensures the presence of a certain substance in the blood serum, necessary for the growth and strengthening of bones. Vitamin D is rich in fish oil, yeast, whole milk and egg yolk. Many canarovators add in the diet of fish oil. At the same time it should be fresh, not lost activity. Corroded, rancid fish oil causes intestinal disorders, exudative diathesis.
There is no vitamin D in plant food. They contain only a special substance ergosterol (provitamin D) from which in the skin of birds under the action of ultraviolet rays or a quartz lamp, vitamin D is formed. The norm for feed additives is the same as for vitamin A.
Vitamin E (Tocopherol)
It promotes the assimilation of other fat-soluble vitamins, ensures the normal function of the reproductive organs, nerve and muscle tissues, and normalizes the growth and structure of cells. Reproductive disorders are a frequent symptom of tocopherol deficiency in the diet: females lay eggs with reduced fertility and hatchability. The large lack of tocopherol causes males degeneration of the testes and sterility.
The high content of fats in the feed and the lack of selenium, methionine and cystine in the feed mixture dramatically increases the birds' need for vitamin E. Tocopherol is found in the leaves of lettuce, eggs, and vitamin E and its derivatives are formed in germinated grain , therefore it is recommended to cook it periodically in home and feed the bird.
Feeding birds, especially in the pre-nesting period, with swollen and germinated grain increases the fertility of eggs, increases hatchability of chicks, enhances their growth and development.
Vitamin B1 (thiamine).
It is very important for the normal functioning of the endocrine glands, the bird's nervous system. With a lack of thiamine in the diet, the muscles of the neck and extremities are affected, head throwing is observed, egg production decreases, the egg does not fertilize well and has a low hatchability. Sources of vitamin B1 - cottage cheese, fodder and baker's yeast, green plants, as well as seeds of legumes and cereals. Crystalline thiamine can be added to soft foods: 2.5 mg per 1 kg of feed.
Vitamin B2 (riboflavin).
It activates metabolic processes, tissue respiration, the assimilation of essential amino acids and is part of a number of enzymes. With a deficiency in the diet of riboflavin in females are reduced: egg production, fertilization of eggs, hatchability of chicks, underdevelopment of claws and feathers, indigestion, affects the nervous system.
With a lack of this vitamin, crystalline riboflavin is added at the rate of 6 mg per 1 kg of soft food.
Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine, adermin).
Protects poultry against skin disease and conjunctivitis (eye disease), stimulates growth. With its lack of feed, egg production in chickens and hatchability are reduced. This vitamin is contained in yeast, bran, herbal flour.
Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin).
The bird is required in negligible quantities, but its role is very large. It increases the usefulness of the protein of vegetable feed, contributes to the formation in the body of a number of amino acids missing in the diet. Its general effect is manifested in ensuring normal egg production, good embryonic development and hatchability of the young. The source of this vitamin is fish meal, shellfish, special preparations.
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid).
It improves the general condition of birds, increases their body resistance to diseases, accelerates the process of changing feathers, as well as healing wounds.
Vitamin C is synthesized in the body of poultry from carbohydrates. But with gastrointestinal diseases or stressful conditions, its biosynthesis is disturbed. In the absence or lack of vitamin C, growth of chicks is delayed, weakness appears in the bird, anemia develops, hemorrhages occur in the skin, subcutaneous tissue and muscles, resistance to infectious diseases decreases, and redox processes are disturbed. Birds eat poorly, noticeably lose weight, weaken, become lethargic.
This vitamin is contained in sufficient amounts in grass and pine flour, carrots, in most fresh green fodder.
Rosehips are especially rich in vitamin C, which brew and give broth to the bird to drink. Such a decoction or fresh sprigs of coniferous trees are the best sources of vitamin C in late winter, early spring.
Now on sale there are many different vitamin preparations.
When purchasing any vitamin preparations, be sure to pay attention to their shelf life , because, firstly, there is no benefit from expired preparations, and secondly, you can easily kill the bird. This is especially true for fish oil . Apply it with great care.
It is better to use natural sources of vitamins , providing all year round to birds in sufficient quantities, fresh greens, vegetables, fruits and other natural foods that contain large amounts of vitamins.
